About Our Church

We have been serving the Angleton community since 1896 and continue to declare our faith in Jesus Christ, seek to worship God faithfully, raise our children to love and serve the Lord, and seek to make a difference because of our faith in Jesus Christ.

Presbyterian Beliefs

We are a member of the Presbyterian Church USA which has about 1.8 million members and 10,250 churches nationwide.

We are a church founded on the Good News of Jesus Christ, who we proclaim to be our Lord and Savior.  He lived a sinless life, and died for our sins on the Cross and was raised on Easter Sunday, showing the faithfulness and glory of God and defeating the bondage of sin and death.

We share many of our core beliefs with most other Christian churches:

  • Belief in the Trinity (God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit, God 3 in 1)
  • The Authority of Scripture (The New Testament and Old Testament teach us about God and what it means to be the people of God).
  • Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and redeemer, his death on the cross and Easter resurrection matter, and bring us forgiveness of our sins by faith.
  • God created  the world good, things got terribly messed up but God will work to reconcile the world.

Some particular beliefs of Presbyterians

  • The idea of covenant between God and his people is important to us.
  • We celebrate 2 sacraments: Communion (the Lord's Supper) and Baptism
  • We baptize infants because we believe the Scriptures affirm it. Our understanding of covenant require the affirmation of faith of Christian parents to raise their children in the Christian faith.  It is expected that the children will make their own profession of faith later.
  • We also baptize youth and adults upon their profession of faith.
